m-cubed gratitudes.

Top ten things I'm thankful for this March Monday Morning ...

1. The 15 years I knew Patricia Helfogt Dankert Pepin Franke, my birthmom (who left us yesterday — traumatically, tragically, oddly).
2. Dramatic weather you don't have to go out in.
3. Dove dark chocolates.
4. Polar fleece.
5. The Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo — another day.
6. Understanding clients and colleagues.
7. Laptop computers.

8. Chicago.
9. My relatively happy, healthy family, all safe & sound in our home on a blustery day.
10. Having our children's college tuition bought & paid for.

We love you, Nana Pat.

8. Sonic
9. Lamme's Candies
10. smiles

So very much to be thankful for today...

1) Strong antibiotics
2) My ability to brave the cold and still go to boot camp. Wind was fierce!
3) My upcoming warm shower.
4) Cocovia bars. (Dark chocolate nutrition bars - yum!)
5) Fleece
6) Dinner was ready when Jack and I returned from the dr.
7) Ibuprofen and tylenol.
8) Lucy standing tall on her own.
9) Lucy's perfect 'downward dog'. So much fun to watch baby yoga.
10) Luke's neck nuzzles.

Kristen, so sorry to hear about the passing of your birth Mom. I am so happy for the two of you that you were able to form a relationship.

That is number one on my list:
1. That Pat had the strength to find Kristen and Kristen had the strength to learn to love her.
2. That my house has protected me from this nutty weather all day.
3. TV when home with a sick three year old.
4. Ditto for ibuprofen.
5. Bible study in the morning to help me focus my day.
5. The internet so I can do a little work from home when I stay here unexpectedly.
6. Napping.
7. An awesome dog to fetch the paper.
8. A husband who feels truly bad that he is traveling while our daughter is sick.
9. A good book on the nightstand - just started it.
10. Yolanda (who will beautify our house on Wednesday)

Signed, Megan P (I couldn't be bothered to come up with a Blogger identity) :)

Kristen:

I am so sorry about your birth mom ... my thoughts are with you & your family.

Top tens, in no particular order:
1) Arnold, who continues to hang around despite my many & various projects that all too often include onerous physical labor on his part
2) Our menagerie, comical & ornery
3) Our garden which, while imperfect, is a strong & daily reminder of the natural rhythm of things
4) 70s Funk and R&B
5) Poems
6) Short stories & non-fiction essays
7) Novels
8) The library
9) Any adult beverage with bubbles (beer, champagne, cava,...)
9) Eating a raw asparagus spear outside in the garden one second after it's been plucked
10) The universe: how it so often, in its inexplicable mercy & mischief, gives us exactly what we need when we need it - or not.

Take good care of yourself, Kristen, & know others care for you -
